New faculty
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Timothy C. Kirkpatrick, D.D.S.
Dr. Timothy C. Kirkpatrick, endodontics department chair at Keesler Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as professor and chair of the Department of Endodontics in the School of Dentistry.
After receiving his B.S. in biology from Baylor University, Waco, Texas, in 1985, Kirkpatrick earned his D.D.S. at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School in 1989. He completed an AEGD residency at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, Gainesville, in 1990. After serving as a general dentist in Celina, Texas, from 1990-92, at Hurlburt Field, Florida, from 1992-95 and at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom, from 1995-98, Kirkpatrick completed his endodontics residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas, in 2000.
Kirkpatrick became chair of the Department of Endodontics at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado in 2000 and served as director of resident education and training for the Endodontics Residency from 2004-06, Endodontics Department chair from 2010-13 and Endodontics Residency program director from 2006-13 at Wilford Hall Medical Center. An associate professor from 2010-13 and a professor from 2013-17 at the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Kirkpatrick also served as clinical assistant professor in the Department of Endodontics at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry.
An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists, Kirkpatrick serves as secretary of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Endodontics. A fellow of the International College of Dentists and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society, he serves on the scientific advisory board of the Journal of Endodontics. The author or coauthor of 25 articles in peer-reviewed professional journals and 35 abstracts, he has given more than two dozen presentations internationally.
Denise McDuffey, M.D.
Dr. Denise McDuffey, a recent medicine resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.
After receiving her B.A. in psychology magna cum laude from Spelman College, Atlanta, in 2010, McDuffey earned her M.D. in 2014 at UMMC, where she had her residency in the Department of Medicine from 2014-17.
An active member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and the Mississippi State Medical Association, the Robert E. Herrin Scholar has given two quality improvement presentations and an Abstract Day poster, “Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Presenting as Pericardial Effusion.”
